CHAPTER FOUR
Miss Lark’s Andrew
Miss Lark lived in the biggest house in Cherry Tree Lane.
Gospođica Lark je živela u najvećoj kući u ulici Cherry Tree Lane.
All day they could hear her loud voice:
Ceog dana mogli su da čuju njen glas.
"Andrew, where are you?" or
„Endru, gde si?“ ili
"Andrew, put on your coat!" or
„Endru, obuci kaput!“ ili
"Andrew, come to Mother!"
„Endru, dođi mami!“
Was Andrew a boy? No, he was a dog.
Da li je Endru bio dečak? Ne, bio je pas.
A nice small dog called Andrew.
Lep mali pas po imenu Endru.
Some people said that he looked like a toy-dog.
Neki su govorili da izgleda kao igračka-pas.
But he was a dog!
Ali bio je pas!
Andrew lived like a prince.
Endru je živeo kao princ.
He slept in his bed; he had milk and chocolate for every meal.
Andrew could do what he wanted.
Endru je mogao da radi šta želi.
His days looked like our birthdays.
Njegovi dani su izgledali kao naši rođendani.
And when Andrew had his birthday, he had two candles on his cake for every year, not one.
But Andrew wasn't happy.
Ali Endru nije bio srećan.
People laughed when they saw Andrew in his best coat or nice boots.
"Oh, no!" said Michael. "He looks so stupid! And he is stupid too!"
„O, ne!“ rekao je Majkl. „Izgleda tako glupo! I glup je!“
"He is not stupid," said Mary Poppins.
„Nije glup,“ rekla je Meri Popins.
And Mary Poppins was right. Andrew wasn't stupid at all.
I Meri Popins je bila u pravu. Endru uopšte nije bio glup.
You can think that he didn't love Miss Lark.
Mogli biste pomisliti da nije voleo gospođicu Lark.
But he did. She always was so kind to him!
Ali voleo ju je. Uvek je bila tako dobra prema njemu!
But he didn't like his life.
Ali nije voleo svoj život.
He would like to have a nice piece of red meat.
He wanted to be a usual dog.
Želeo je da bude običan pas.
And he wanted to have usual dogs as his friends.
Sometimes he ran out of his garden.
Ponekad bi pobegao iz svoje bašte.
He wanted to speak to a dog.
Želeo je da razgovara sa psom.
One day Andrew had a new friend.
Jednog dana Endru je imao novog prijatelja.
It was more than a usual dog - it was a terrible dog.
All people were happy that he was not their dog.
Miss Lark didn't like Andrew's friend.
Gospođica Lark nije volela Endruovog prijatelja.
When she saw that Andrew was talking to his friend, she called:
Kad bi videla da Endru razgovara sa svojim prijateljem, vikala bi:
"Andrew! Come home, my dear! Don't talk to this dog!"
„Endru! Dođi kući, dragi! Ne razgovaraj s tim psom!“
But one day Jane and Michael saw Andrew, all alone, in the park.
He was running very fast and looked very serious.
Trčao je veoma brzo i izgledao veoma ozbiljno.
"Hi, Andrew! Where's your coat?" cried Michael.
„Zdravo, Endru! Gde ti je kaput?“ povikao je Majkl.
But Andrew just looked at them both and then turned to Mary Poppins.
"Yap-yap!" said Andrew very quickly.
„Jap-jap!“ brzo je rekao Endru.
"Second house on the left," said Mary Poppins.
„Druga kuća levo,“ rekla je Meri Popins.
"Yap?" said Andrew.
„Jap?“ rekao je Endru.
"No - no garden."
„Ne – bez bašte.“
Andrew barked again.
Endru je ponovo zalajao.
"I'm not sure," said Mary Poppins. "He usually goes home at tea-time."
„Nisam sigurna,“ rekla je Meri Popins. „Obično ide kući u vreme čaja.“
And Andrew ran away.
I Endru je otrčao.
"What was he saying?" Jane and Michael asked together.
„Šta je rekao?“ pitali su zajedno Džejn i Majkl.
"Nothing special!" said Mary Poppins, and closed her mouth.
„Ništa posebno!“ rekla je Meri Popins i zatvorila usta.
"I think he asked you where somebody lived..." Michael began.
„Mislim da te pitao gde neko živi…“ počeo je Majkl.
"Well, why are you asking me then?" said Mary Poppins sniffing. "I'm not a dictionary."
„Pa, zašto me onda pitaš?“ rekla je Meri Popins šmrknuvši. „Nisam rečnik.“
"Oh, Michael," said Jane, "Mary Poppins, tell us what Andrew said to you, please."
„Oh, Majkle,“ rekla je Džejn, „Meri Popins, reci nam šta ti je Endru rekao, molim te.“
But she did not say.
Ali ona nije rekla.
When they were near their house, they heard Miss Lark's loud cries.
She ran and ran about the garden.
Trčala je i trčala po bašti.
She looked under and up every tree.
Gledala je ispod i na svako drvo.
"Oh Andrew! Where are you?" she cried again and again.
„Oh, Endru! Gde si?“ vikala je iznova i iznova.
Then she saw him.
Tada ga je ugledala.
Andrew was coming to her and near him was walking a big brown dog.
"Oh, you are OK!" said Miss Lark. "But that terrible dog! Shoo! Shoo! Go home!"
„Oh, dobro si!“ rekla je gospođica Lark. „Ali taj strašni pas! Šic! Šic! Idi kući!“
But the dog didn't go.
Ali pas nije otišao.
"Go away! Go home!" said Miss Lark. "And you, Andrew, come in the house! You mustn't go for a walk without me and without your coat."
„Odlazi! Idi kući!“ rekla je gospođica Lark. „A ti, Endru, uđi u kuću! Ne smeš ići u šetnju bez mene i bez kaputa.“
Andrew barked but did not go.
Endru je zalajao, ali nije ušao.
"What's the matter? Come in!" said Miss Lark.
„Šta je bilo? Uđi!“ rekla je gospođica Lark.
Andrew barked again.
Endru je ponovo zalajao.
"He says," said Mary Poppins, "that he's not coming in."
„Kaže,“ rekla je Meri Popins, „da neće ući.“
Miss Lark looked at her in surprise. "How do you know what my dog says? Of course he will come in."
Gospođica Lark ju je začuđeno pogledala. „Kako znaš šta moj pas kaže? Naravno da će ući.“
Andrew barked again.
Endru je ponovo zalajao.
"He won't," said Mary Poppins. "He will go home only with his friend."
„Neće,“ rekla je Meri Popins. „Otići će kući samo sa svojim prijateljem.“
"No!" said Miss Lark angrily. "That terrible street dog will never come into my garden."
„Ne!“ ljutito je rekla gospođica Lark. „Taj strašni ulični pas nikada neće ući u moju baštu.“
Andrew barked three or four times.
Endru je zalajao tri ili četiri puta.
"And he will go away..."
„I otići će…“
"Oh, Andrew, you can't!" Miss Lark was crying.
„Oh, Endru, ne možeš!“ plakala je gospođica Lark.
Andrew barked and the two dogs got up.
"Oh, he is going away!" Miss Lark was going to cry. "Very well, Andrew. This dog can stay. But he will sleep in the garden."
„Oh, odlazi!“ viknula je gospođica Lark. „U redu, Endru. Ovaj pas može da ostane. Ali će spavati u bašti.“
"He says, madam, that his friend must sleep in the room. Or he will go and sleep in the garden with his friend," said Mary Poppins.
„Kaže, gospođice, da njegov prijatelj mora spavati u sobi. Ili će otići i spavati u bašti sa svojim prijateljem,“ rekla je Meri Popins.
Andrew got up and was ready to go.
"Oh, Andrew!" cried Miss Lark. "Very well, he will sleep in the room."
„Oh, Endru!“ povikala je gospođica Lark. „U redu, spavaće u sobi.“
Andrew barked again.
Endru je ponovo zalajao.
Andrew barked to his friend "Come on!" and they went into the house.
"He isn't stupid, you see," said Jane.
„Vidiš da nije glup,“ rekla je Džejn.
"No," said Michael. "But how can Mary Poppins... ?"
„Ne,“ rekao je Majkl. „Ali kako Meri Popins…?“
"I don't know," said Jane. "And she'll never, never, tell us."
„Ne znam,“ rekla je Džejn. „I nikada, nikada nam neće reći.“
