Jednog dana mala lisica je šetala šumom.
One day, a little fox was walking through the forest.
Iznenada, ispred nje se pojavilo staro ogledalo.
Suddenly, an old mirror appeared in front of her.
Lisica se zaustavila i začudila.
The fox stopped and was surprised.
"Šta se to sjaji?", pitala se.
"What is shining?", she wondered.
Pogledala je u ogledalo i videla sebe.
She looked into the mirror and saw herself.
Uplašila se i sakrila iza drveta.
She got scared and hid behind a tree.
Zatim se polako vratila i opet pogledala.
Then she slowly came back and looked again.
She realized that she shouldn't be afraid of her own reflection.
Od tada se često igrala ispred ogledala.
Since then, she often played in front of the mirror.
She always wondered what she could learn about herself.
(The Ancient Mirror and the Secret of “se”)
Long ago, people believed that a mirror was not just glass.
On the island of Crete and in the land of the Etruscans, mirrors were special.
On them, pictures were drawn and words were written.
It was believed that whoever looks at the mirror can see more than just their face.
They say that through the mirror, you see what is hidden in your heart.
That’s why people often said: “Look at yourself and get to know yourself.”
U srpskom jeziku postoji čarobna reč “se”.
In Serbian, there is a magical word “se”
When we say “smiles”, “is afraid”, “plays”, it means that everything we do — we also do for ourselves.
Baš kao u ogledalu, svaki dan možeš učiti nešto novo o sebi!
Just like in a mirror, every day you can learn something new about yourself!
(He who is not afraid to look at himself can become wise.)
Imagine: If your mirror could talk, what would it tell you about yourself?
