Serbian language for English-speaking schoolchildren

Dobrodošao u učenje srpskog jezika!

(Welcome to learning the Serbian language!)

Srpski i engleski su jezici koji imaju mnogo zajedničkog.

(Serbian and English are languages that have much in common.)

Iznenadićeš se kako je lako razumeti i zapamtiti neke stvari, ako pravilno pogledaš na njih.

(You will be surprised how easy it is to understand and remember some things if you look at them correctly.)

Na primer, u engleskom postoji redosled reči u rečenici i redosled rečenica u eseju ili priči, dok u srpskom postoje padeži, koji takođe pomažu da se jezik organizuje.

(For example, in English, there is a word order in a sentence and sentence order in an essay or story, while in Serbian, there are cases that also help organize the language.)

Padeži su drevni logički red, poput algoritma, nalik na 7 dana u nedelji, 7 nota, koji pokazuje ko i šta, odakle ili iz čega, šta ima, šta radi, koja mu je misija ili poziv, s kim i čime to radi, i gde to radi.

(Cases are an ancient logical order, like an algorithm, similar to 7 days in a week, 7 notes, which show who and what, from where or from what, what they have, what they do, what their mission or calling is, with whom and with what they do it, and where they do it.)

Engleski je nasledio logiku drevnih Kelta, koji su rodbinski povezani sa narodima Balkana.

(English inherited the logic of the ancient Celts, who are related to the peoples of the Balkans.)

O tome ima mnogo video sadržaja na Jutjubu.

(There are many videos about this on YouTube.)

Uopšteno, logika engleskog i srpskog jezika je veoma slična.

(In general, the logic of English and Serbian is very similar.)

Na primer, uslovne rečenice se mogu prevoditi direktno.

(For example, conditional sentences can be translated directly.)

Buduće vreme je takođe veoma slično.

(The future tense is also very similar.)

Čak su i koreni reči, ako bolje pogledaš, slični.

(Even the roots of words, if you look closely, are similar.)

Padeži na primerima

(Cases with examples)

Da odmah shvatiš zašto su padeži potrebni, evo 7 rečenica — po jedna za svaki padež.

(To immediately understand why cases are needed, here are 7 sentences — one for each case.)

  1. Nominativ:

Ovo je moj drug.(This is my friend.)— Nominativ odgovara na pitanje "ko? šta?" i imenuje predmet ili lice.

(Nominative answers the question "who? what?" and names a subject or person.)

  2. Genitiv:

Ovo je knjiga od mog druga.(This is a book from my friend.)— Genitiv pokazuje čije je nešto ili odakle potiče.

    (Genitive shows possession or origin.)

  3. Dativ:

Dao sam knjigu svom drugu.(I gave the book to my friend.)— Dativ odgovara na pitanje "kome? čemu?" i pokazuje pravac radnje.

(Dative answers the question "to whom? to what?" and shows the direction of action.)

  4. Akuzativ:

Vidim svog druga.(I see my friend.)— Akuzativ odgovara na pitanje "koga? šta?" i označava objekat radnje.

(Accusative answers the question "whom? what?" and indicates the object of action.)

  5. Vokativ:

Drugu, hajde ovamo!(Friend, come here!)— Vokativ se koristi da nekoga pozoveš ili zadeneš zadatak.

(Vocative is used to call someone or assign a task.)

  6. Instrumental:

Šetam sa svojim drugom.(I am walking with my friend.)— Instrumental odgovara na pitanje "s kim? čime?" i pokazuje način ili sredstvo.(Instrumental answers the question "with whom? with what?" and shows the method or tool.)

  7. Lokativ: Pričam o svom drugu.(I am talking about my friend.)— Lokativ odgovara na pitanje "o kome? o čemu?" i koristi se uz predloge.

(Locative answers the question "about whom? about what?" and is used with prepositions.)

Glagol "biti"

(The verb "biti" (to be))

Glagol "biti" je ključ za pravljenje rečenica u srpskom jeziku.

(The verb "biti" is the key to forming sentences in the Serbian language.)

  • Ja sam (I am)

  • Ti si (You are)

  • On/ona/ono je (He/she/it is)

  • Mi smo (We are)

  • Vi ste (You are)

  • Oni/one/ona su (They are)

Primeri:

Ja sam učenik. (I am a student.)

Ti si moj drug. (You are my friend.)

Kratka priča

(A short story)

  1. Ja sam Mosi. (I am Mosi.)

  2. Ja sam iz Budve. (I am from Budva.)

  3. Sutra imam školu. (Tomorrow, I have school.)

  4. Juče sam učio matematiku. (Yesterday, I studied math.)

Danas pišem zadatke. (Today, I am doing homework.)

Na času učimo istoriju. (In class, we are learning history.)

  5. Hajde, driže, popričamo.

  6. Volim da pričam sa drugarima. (I love talking with friends.)

  7. Volim da pričam o prirodi. (I love talking about nature.)

Ti ćeš brzo naučiti srpski, jer već u sebi nosiš drevnu logiku i intuiciju!(You will learn Serbian quickly because you already carry ancient logic and intuition within you!) :)
