CHAPTER SIX

Bad Tuesday

That morning Michael got up with a funny feeling.

Tog jutra Majkl se probudio sa čudnim osećajem.

Something was wrong with him.

Nešto nije bilo u redu s njim.

"What day is it today, Mary Poppins?" he asked.

„Koji je danas dan, Meri Popins?“ upitao je.

"Tuesday," said Mary Poppins. "Go and take a shower!"

„Utorak,“ rekla je Meri Popins. „Idi i istuširaj se!“

He didn't. The funny feeling got stronger.

Nije otišao. Čudan osećaj je postao jači.

"I won't," he said slowly. "I WON'T."

„Neću,“ rekao je polako. „NEĆU.“

All day nothing went right with him.

Ceog dana mu ništa nije polazilo za rukom.

He did the most terrible things.

Radio je najgore stvari.

And he felt very pleased and glad!

I bio je vrlo zadovoljan i srećan!

"You are ill," said Mrs. Banks, "you will have some medicine!"

„Ti si bolestan,“ rekla je gospođa Banks, „popićeš lek!“

"I'm not ill," said Michael. "I don't want to be good."

„Nisam bolestan,“ rekao je Majkl. „Ne želim da budem dobar.“

Suddenly Mary Poppins said to him, "You got out of bed the wrong side this morning."

Odjednom mu je Meri Popins rekla: „Jutros si ustao na pogrešnu stranu kreveta.“

"I didn't," said Michael. "There is no wrong side to my bed."

„Nisam,“ rekao je Majkl. „Moj krevet nema pogrešnu stranu.“

"Every bed has a right and a wrong side," said Mary Poppins.

„Svaki krevet ima pravu i pogrešnu stranu,“ rekla je Meri Popins.

"Not mine – it's next to the wall."

„Moj ne – uz zid je.“

"Both sides were wrong this morning! Now, sir," said Mary Poppins. "Let's go for a walk."

„Obe strane su jutros bile pogrešne! Sada, gospodine,“ rekla je Meri Popins. „Hajdemo u šetnju.“

When they were in the park, Michael saw a compass on the ground.

Kad su bili u parku, Majkl je ugledao kompas na zemlji.

"What is it, Michael?" Jane asked.

„Šta je to, Majkle?“ pitala je Džejn.

"I won't tell you," said Michael.

„Neću ti reći,“ rekao je Majkl.

"Mary Poppins, what is it for?" asked Jane.

„Meri Popins, čemu to služi?“ pitala je Džejn.

Mary Poppins took the little box from Michael's hand.

Meri Popins je uzela malu kutiju iz Majklove ruke.

"To go round the world with," said Mary Poppins.

„Za putovanje oko sveta,“ rekla je Meri Popins.

"What an idea!" said Michael. "It is not a ship! This little box can't take you round the world."

„Kakva ideja!“ rekao je Majkl. „To nije brod! Ova mala kutija te ne može odvesti oko sveta.“

Mary Poppins sniffed, turned the compass and said the word "North!"

Meri Popins je šmrknula, okrenula kompas i rekla reč „Sever!“

Suddenly it got very cold, and the wind was very strong!

Odjednom je postalo veoma hladno, a vetar je bio vrlo jak!

All around them there was a lot of ice and snow.

Svuda oko njih bilo je mnogo leda i snega.

"Oh!" cried Jane. "Where are we now? Where is the park?"

„Oh!“ povikala je Džejn. „Gde smo sada? Gde je park?“

The next moment a Polar Bear jumped out.

U sledećem trenutku iskočio je polarni medved.

He was standing on his legs.

Stajao je na nogama.

"Welcome to the North Pole! You are very cold, aren't you?" the Bear asked in a kind voice.

„Dobrodošli na Severni pol! Veoma vam je hladno, zar ne?“ upitao je medved ljubaznim glasom.

"That's because you need something to eat. What would you like? Fish?"

„To je zato što vam treba nešto da jedete. Šta biste želeli? Ribu?“

"I'm afraid we can't stay. We're on our way round the world. South!" Mary Poppins said to the compass.

„Bojim se da ne možemo ostati. Na putu smo oko sveta. Jug!“ rekla je Meri Popins kompasu.

The next moment the air got soft and warm.

U sledećem trenutku vazduh je postao blag i topao.

The children were in a noisy green jungle.

Deca su bila u bučnoj zelenoj džungli.

"Welcome!" said a large Parrot. "Can you help me, Mary Poppins? My wife's out and I'm so tired sitting on the eggs.

„Dobrodošli!“ rekao je veliki papagaj. „Možeš li da mi pomogneš, Meri Popins? Moja žena je otišla, a ja sam umoran od sedenja na jajima.

Well, stay here, and I can get some sleep. Do, Mary Poppins! And I'll get you some bananas."

Ostani ovde da mogu malo da odspavam. Hajde, Meri Popins! Doneću ti banane.“

"I'm sorry but we are on our way round the world," said Mary Poppins.

„Žao mi je, ali na putu smo oko sveta,“ rekla je Meri Popins.

Jane and Michael wanted to try some tropical fruit but Mary Poppins said, "East!"

Džejn i Majkl su želeli da probaju tropsko voće, ali je Meri Popins rekla: „Istok!“

Again the world went round and round – or they went round and round the world?

Opet se svet okretao i okretao – ili su oni obilazili svet?

Now they were among bamboos.

Sada su bili među bambusima.

A big black animal with white spots was sleeping on the ground.

Velika crna životinja sa belim šarama spavala je na zemlji.

It was a Panda in its own home and not in a Zoo!

To je bila panda u svom domu, a ne u zoološkom vrtu!

The Panda opened one black eye. "Oh, it's you, my dear girl," he said sleepily.

Panda je otvorila jedno crno oko. „Oh, to si ti, draga moja,“ rekao je pospano.

"Well, I'll make a home for you all in a moment."

„Pa, napraviću vam svima dom za trenutak.“

"We are not going to stay," Mary Poppins said. "We're taking a little trip round the world."

„Nećemo ostati,“ rekla je Meri Popins. „Na malom smo putovanju oko sveta.“

"Isn't it strange? Going round the world when you could stay here with me.

„Zar nije čudno? Putovati oko sveta kad možeš ostati ovde sa mnom.

My dear children, tickle me behind the ears. That always sends me to sleep."

Draga deco, pomazite me iza ušiju. To me uvek uspava.“

In a moment he was sleeping peacefully and Mary Poppins said in a low voice: "West!"

Za trenutak je mirno spavao, a Meri Popins je tihim glasom rekla: „Zapad!“

Hills and lakes, mountains and forests went round and round.

Brda i jezera, planine i šume vrteli su se unaokolo.

This time they were on long white seashore.

Ovog puta bili su na dugoj beloj obali.

And before them there was a large black and grey Dolphin with her baby.

A ispred njih bila je velika crno-siva delfinka sa svojim mladunčetom.

"Mary Poppins, you're just in time for an evening swim. What are you doing here?"

„Meri Popins, stigla si baš na vreme za večernje plivanje. Šta radiš ovde?“

"Oh, Amelia, we are just going round the world," Mary Poppins.

„Oh, Amelija, samo putujemo oko sveta,“ rekla je Meri Popins.

"Well, now for a meal. What would you like?"

„Pa, sada da nešto prezalogajite. Šta biste želeli?“

Amelia smiled at Jane and Michael, showing her white teeth.

Amelija se nasmejala Džejn i Majklu, pokazujući svoje bele zube.

"Thank you, Amelia. But we must be at home in a moment," said Mary Poppins.

„Hvala ti, Amelija. Ali moramo uskoro biti kod kuće,“ rekla je Meri Popins.

"What kind of visit is that? Next time you must stay for tea, and we'll all sit together on a rock and sing a song to the moon."

„Kakva je to poseta? Sledeći put morate ostati na čaju, pa ćemo svi zajedno sedeti na steni i pevati pesmu mesecu.“

Amelia got very sad.

Amelija se veoma rastužila.

"That will be lovely," said Jane and Michael.

„To će biti divno,“ rekli su Džejn i Majkl.

"Well, bye-bye then!"

„Pa, doviđenja onda!“

"Bye, Amelia!" Michael and Jane cried.

„Zbogom, Amelija!“ povikali su Majkl i Džejn.

"What are you doing, Michael?"

„Šta radiš, Majkle?“

The boy heard Mary Poppins's cold voice.

Dečak je čuo hladan glas Meri Popins.

The sea was not there.

More nije bilo tu.

There was green grass and Jane and the Twins and Mary Poppins walking in the Park.

Bila je zelena trava i Džejn, i blizanci, i Meri Popins koji su šetali u parku.

"Round the world and back in a minute — what a wonderful box!" said Jane.

„Oko sveta i nazad za minut — kakva divna kutija!“ rekla je Džejn.

"It's a compass. And it's mine," said Michael. "Give it to me!"

„To je kompas. I moj je,“ rekao je Majkl. „Daj mi ga!“

"My compass," said Mary Poppins and put it into her bag.

„Moj kompas,“ rekla je Meri Popins i stavila ga u svoju torbu.

He looked at her very angrily.

Pogledao ju je vrlo ljutito.

The strange feeling inside him grew worse, and in the evening he grew very naughty.

Čudan osećaj u njemu postao je jači, a uveče je postao veoma nestašan.

He kicked the Twins and pulled Jane's hair.

Šutnuo je blizance i povukao Džejn za kosu.

"And that," said Mary Poppins, "is the end."

„I to,“ rekla je Meri Popins, „je kraj.“

Michael was naughty and hated everybody.

Majkl je bio nestašan i mrzeo je sve.

He got into bed without cleaning his teeth!

Ležao je u krevetu bez pranja zuba!

Suddenly he saw the compass on the table and had an idea.

Odjednom je video kompas na stolu i dobio ideju.

"I'll take the compass and go round the world. And they will never see me again!"

„Uzeću kompas i otići oko sveta. I nikada me više neće videti!“

He got up, took the compass in his hand.

Ustao je, uzeo kompas u ruku.

"North, South, East, West!" he said very quickly.

„Sever, Jug, Istok, Zapad!“ rekao je veoma brzo.

He heard a noise and saw four large animals — the Polar Bear, the Parrot, the Panda and the Dolphin.

Čuo je buku i video četiri velike životinje — polarnog medveda, papagaja, pandu i delfina.

They were coming to him, not kind and friendly, but angry and terrible.

Dolazile su ka njemu, ne ljubazne i prijateljske, već ljute i strašne.

"Oh! Mary Poppins, help me!" Michael cried and shut his eyes.

„Oh! Meri Popins, pomozi mi!“ povikao je Majkl i zatvorio oči.

Suddenly the animals stopped and then disappeared.

Odjednom su se životinje zaustavile, a zatim nestale.

"Mary Poppins!" he cried again.

„Meri Popins!“ povikao je ponovo.

"I can hear you OK," he heard Mary Poppins's voice.

„Čujem te dobro,“ čuo je glas Meri Popins.

He opened one eye. No angry animals.

Otvorio je jedno oko. Nema ljutih životinja.

Then he sat up and looked round the room.

Zatim je seo i pogledao po sobi.

There was nothing there. He was in his bed.

Nije bilo ničega. Bio je u svom krevetu.

And there was no strange feeling inside.

I nije bilo čudnog osećaja u njemu.

He felt quiet and happy.

Osećao se mirno i srećno.

"What happened?" he asked Mary Poppins.

„Šta se desilo?“ upitao je Meri Popins.

"I told you that it was my compass. Don't take my things, please," she said.

„Rekla sam ti da je to moj kompas. Ne uzimaj moje stvari, molim te,“ rekla je.

Then she took the compass, put it in her pocket and went out of his bedroom.

Zatim je uzela kompas, stavila ga u džep i izašla iz njegove sobe.

She came back in some minutes with a cup of hot milk in her hands.

Vratila se posle nekoliko minuta sa šoljom toplog mleka u rukama.

Michael was drinking the milk very slowly.

Majkl je pio mleko vrlo polako.

How comfortable his bed was!

Kako mu je krevet bio udoban!

How warm it was!

Kako je bilo toplo!

How happy he was to be at home!

Kako je bio srećan što je kod kuće!
